Thermos repair makes sense only in cases, if it is quite expensive, an exclusive model of stainless steel, designed to serve for many years. These thermoses are often produced with a lifelong warranty, and the official dealer with the service center for repairing its products would help.
How to repair the lid?
There are two types of covers: With the button and without it. The cover with the button can be as collapsible - with replaceable parts, for example, with a removable spring and with a completely cast or glued design. The first is easy to disassemble and clean, the second is cleaned with the help of potent reagents, softening food deposits and preserving plastic, metals and rubber. Push-button covers are equipped with a valve.
To remove, disassemble the lid with a threaded fastening completely, do the following:
- Unscrew the ring with the button;
- remove the valve;
- Remove the pressing washer and spring;
- Remove the gland - the plug ring.
Rinse all parts from precipitation. What focused firmly is cleaned with a plastic brush and any detergent, for example, abrasive powders for cleaning shells. Rinse the details of the detergent for the dishes then to remove the chloro-ammonia reagents, collect the cover in the reverse order.
Some Chinese thermoses are dealt as follows:

If the thermos stopped keeping heat, it means that something is wrong with the vacuum between the inner and outer container. Even slightly appreciated glass and plastic flasks are thrown away - there is no reason to repair their meanings. A glass crumb, swallowed by man, is a threat to life.
If you repair your own steel thermos, having lost a vacuum due to holes, then do the following:
- Drill in the bottom of the hole and blow into the hole metal capillary tube. It is advisable to take copper, these are released for repair of refrigerators and air conditioners. Steel soldered with zinc chloride or other soldering flux - solder it spreads exactly, not to mention the braid of copper.
- Pump with the help of a car or refrigeration compressor air. Do not exceed the pressure in 2 atmosphere.
- Find and assume all defects in the case. If the inner flask is damaged, then repaired the narrow-rose thermos is difficult - the soldering iron is extremely uncomfortable in a narrow space. Pour sour and salty drinks to the walled from the inside the thermos can not be stored, for example, canned food in an open jar: tin and lead react with acids, turning into poisonous salts for a person. Such a thermos is suitable only for water. If the defect is outside, and the flask is a whole, then use the thermos, as before the breakdown.
- Pump the air. Control the pressure gauge, whether the pressure is growing in the inter-space after stopping the compressor. If so, then you don't boost as it should. If not, then leave the compressor and thermos under vacuum for several hours.
- If there is no vacuum leakage, the air is not suited, it means that the gap is embossed qualitatively . Throw up the tube, squeeze it, for example, with the help of bodies, having passed them along a centimeter length and more. Sweep extra end, leaving the location of the inflection. Air will begin to be suited through the micropores of the inflection. While the vacuum did not seriously break, tighten the location of the inflection and cutting the tube. It is necessary to act quickly - use flux so that the solder instantly crushed along the conversion end and reliably blocked the location of the inflection and cutting the tube while the air completely displaced the entire vacuum.
- Bend the tube closer to the bottom. From above, soldered to the housing to open the cans without a lid of similar diameter. This will protect the tube-suction from damage, allowing to keep the vacuum.
The thermos is restored, you can continue to use it.
Other malfunctions and their elimination
The thermos often breaks the button, valve, plug and other parts that do not affect the interetensive vacuum. To make a new cork instead of an old, which has no thread, a piece of wood will be required. From it in the image and similarity of the old tube on the lathe (or with a mill), a new one is pulled out. The rubber gasket is cut from the rubber of a similar diameter and is inserted into the technological recess (groove). It does not give liquids to spill with a random slope or turning the thermos.
The sealer can be made of a thick gum from the balloon, or cutting the right strip in the form of a ring from the old auto-camera.
To fix the button at home, do the following:
- If the button and valve are collapsible, then disassemble the lid - by previous instructions;
- If the button is broken so much that it is impossible to glue it parts, then on the machine output from the piece of plastic a new button;
- Insert it instead of broken and collect the thermos.
The spring changes only on a similar, similar rigidity and diameter. Parts can be found on the ad either in the economic row of the local market, where they sell all sorts of spare parts from the old technology. The dents of the external vessel are straightened by a hammer from the inside, with a flask, and only if the thermos was perfect.
