Candles always give the setting of romanticism and mystery. And if a high candlestick requires a candlestick, then the floating candle is quite an ordinary glass.
What it is?
Floating candles are small, flat candles with a short fityl diameter of 3-4 cm, most often packed in aluminum frame. They are placed not in the classic candlestick, but on the surface of the water - hence the name. It can be placed in a glass with water, or create a whole composition in a bowl or wide vase, run in a bath for relaxation and creating a romantic setting.
Initially, such candles were called tea. They were placed under the brewing kettle to maintain the required temperature. Then they got wider use. For example, they are used in aroma lamps or special nightnails giving a bizarre shadow.
Floating candles are cheaper than the usual, as it uses less material for manufacture. They neatly melted in contrast to decorative, and therefore do not spoil the view of the whole composition.
Since floating candles are burning in water, they are more fireproof.
There are special floating candles for water bodies. They are larger than the size, and also have a bizarre form, for example, in the form of water lily leaves. Frameless flexible tapes with several wicks are available. They easily repeat the bends of the waves, creating the effect of dancing lights. Usually they are used to give entertainment to the decor at mass events.
Tools and Materials for Manufacture
Floating candle can be made independently. This will require:
Two tanks of different diameters - for water and melting wax on a water bath;
wax itself;
cotton thread for phytyl;
wax pouring forms;
wax crayons as a dye, and therefore are optional;
Decorative elements.
Wax can be taken from old burned candles or buy new, ordinary inexpensive will be suitable. In the latest version, the candle needs to break carefully to remove the wick that can be used for your own candles.
Independently, the wick can be made of natural cotton threads without foreign impurities, otherwise it will challenge or allocate an unpleasant chemical smell when burning.
For the absence of cotton threads, you can use Moulin.
Threads should be overwhelmed with each other. The thickness of the wick can be defined only by an experimental way. With too thick, the wax will actively melt, and the candle will quickly get root. Too thin wick will be faded.
Candlesticks for molten wax must withstand high temperature. At home, metal forms for tartlets or silicone for baking cupcakes can be used. Or use re-existing aluminum capsules from previously floating candles.
For wax candles, it is recommended to use a fatty dyes. For this, wax crayons are well suited. You can also add a few drops of essential oil to create an aroma. No longer needed - a strong smell overly excites the nervous system, and can reverse effect, for example, nightmares will be pursued instead of relaxing at night. It is important to remember that alone oils are relaxing, and other tonic effect.
How to do?
Before you begin making a candle, homemade wick should be impregnated with wax and cut 2-3 cm. If it is used ready, taken out of the candle, then it is not necessary to heat up.
Flambered wax drowned in a water bath so that it becomes liquid, without bringing to a boil. As soon as he was dissolved, add grated wax crayons. Mix thoroughly to completely dissolve them. Now you can add decor and aromamaslo if they were planned.
Pour wax in forms. The height of the candle is calculated based on the fact that 1/3 of the weight will always be immersed in water. Since the wick is short, then pulling the thread using a weighting agent is not necessary. As soon as the wax freeze a little, make a hole with a match and insert a wick into it, which should be stitching at least 1 cm.
During the cooling of the candle, its center can be asked. The ugly defect is fixed easily. To do this, it is recommended to leave the wax about the reserve a little to melt it and pour "crater". All actions are simple, and therefore with the manufacture you can easily cope with your own hands without attracting assistants.
If the candle is poorly removed from the form, remove it into the freezer for 5-7 minutes. If the frame involves direct use with a candle, then you can leave.
Use in the interior
With floating candles, you can create various compositions. The simplest is the use of a wide glass or glass. Beads, small pebbles or a different decor are stacked on the bottom, and the candle is falling. Such a "candlestick" can be decorated with any feast, and it will not take much space.
Vase is suitable for the composition. The principle is the same as with a glass. You can take live flowers with large stronger buds and wide petals, for example, gerbera or chrysanthemums. The flower is cut sliced, and the buds themselves are attacked in the water in a vase or sink to float together with candles.
It is interesting to look at the composition of several VAZ with different levels of water filling.
You can take any transparent container as a candlestick, wide enough to fit the candle to fit freely. Even a glass bank is suitable. To the bottom to lower a different decor, fill up to half with water, and the neck will wrap the satin ribbon and make a beautiful bow. The usual non-invalid bank is radically transformed.
You can place the compositions on the table, a tumbel or other horizontal surface. Water, reflecting the candle flame, will be beautifully discarded glare, play on mirror surfaces. And the vases themselves look immanently and original.
